Mission: Atlantic Trouble
Location: USS Ermiana & RMS Titanic

Previously on Star Trek Ermiana:

"Don't worry, Ensign. I can assure you the Chief of Security and Second Officer is fully aware of what I am doing." Lurath replied with a smirk. "Okay... Here we go." He said as he took a hold of Wendy's arm to pull her close in a way to protect her as much as he could. He than raised the hand with the detonator and took a deep breath. "May the Warrior King Kahless and the Four Deities of Betazed watch over us." Lurath suddenly took two more steps away before closing his eyes and gripping the small Wendy tightly before saying. "Of all the stupid things for you to do, Lurath... this is by far the stupidest." Just as he hit the trigger on the detonator.

And now the continuation...

[RMS Titanic]

The ship was nearly fully underwater. The water rising fast as the second class entrance towards the stern slipped under the black icy waves. People still screaming, falling into the water and crying out as the ship sucked them down with it.

"We've only got minutes left!" Misaka called out as she pulled Eila upto the rails of the rear docking bridge. "If we end up in the water, we'll have five... maybe six minutes before hypothermia kicks in."

"Then let's hope we find a suitable piece of debris before that happens." Eila responded.

Suddenly the ship shook, and it seemed to start glitching. The holograms around them causing visual errors some of them fuzzing into different colours, some of them freezing or 'lagging'.

"What the hell..." Misaka exclaimed. "Is the program glitching out again?"

[Outside the holodeck]

The explosion seemed to last forever. The initial blast had forced the holodeck doors open and had blasted back into the corridor. Luckily the forcefields had held but the section outside the holodeck entrance was badly damaged. The once cream panels were scorched and an obvious blast mark spread out from the doors.

However the doors were open, having being forced open by the blast. They had opened wide enough to get a single person through and the holodeck could be seen glitching and failing through the gap.

"Chief Carter isn't going to like you for this..." Wendy said. "I can see the hologrid, it looks like it's partially frozen at the moment."

"You can tell Chief Carter that I will gladly assist in the repairs. Hell, I'll do the repairs myself if he doesn't want to deal with them." Lurath replied as he looked down to Wendy for a moment. "Are you alright? You hurt?"

"I'm fine. The forcefield held up." Wendy said.

"Computer, lower force fields." He commanded just before the glow from the force fields flickered off. Lurath let out a slight cough as he approached the holodeck doors, moving aside some debris, as he reached the doors to look in. He took a moment to observe the night sky hitting the water and what was left of the sinking ship. It was almost an amazing sight once you set aside the amount of lives that were certainly lost from an incident like this.

It was the strangest sight, seeing a door track open in mid air whilst the program froze. Misaka looked up to see Lurath peeking through as she still clung to the rails. "You got a rope Commander?" She called out. "Before we all end up in the water?"

"First, let's see if the transporters work, now that the doors are opened and the program is failing." Lurath said as he placed himself in between both doors and tried pushing the doors further apart.

The ship began to move again, starting to slowly slip back into the ocean, but the people remained still. "Make it quick!" Misaka called out .

Lurath could hear the Captain and turned to Wendy. "You heard the Captain, Ensign. Head to the nearest transporter room and see if you can lock on to anyone in the Holodeck."

Wendy turned on a heel and sprinted off, even though she was small she was fast on her feet.

When the Ensign went off towards the transporter room, Lurath looked down to Misaka and anyone else he could see. "Hang on! We're working on something to get you out!" He shouted before going back to trying to push the door further apart to see if he could get more than one person out at a time. He struggled and struggled until he felt someone push by him and lean against the door in front of him. He looked up to see Hodaq, Dahar Master Rorek's son and apprentice. "Hodaq? What are you doing here?"

"We heard an explosion and thought there was an attack." Hodaq replied.

"We?!" The Security Chief questioned.

Soon Goka and Tahlova joined them. Each Klingon taking a side and beginning to push with their all their strength.

"Here we are, searching for battle and glory, only to find you, Lurath. Trying to open damaged door." Goka said firmly as he looked over to Lurath, as he pushed the door with Hodaq, a slight smirk on his face. "What in Kahless's name happened here?"

Lurath felt the door budge slightly now that he had Tahlova pushing it with him. "The crew were stuck in the holodeck and transporters would not penetrate... so I... blew open the door to try to help."

Tahlova looked at Lurath and started to laugh.

"You blew the door's opened?!" Hodaq looked away, rolling his eyes a bit, only to look up at Lurath and join in on the laughter. "What are you going to do if the ship's engine's stop? Use the self destruct?" He began to laugh again. It was a laugh that Lurath was familiar with, a laugh that was usually directed to him when Hodaq was trying to push his buttons, but this time it was different. He was right. Blowing the doors was extreme, but it was all Lurath had at the time and his crew was in danger.

Lurath soon began to smile, which led to his own laughter. The more they laughed, the easier it seemed to widen the doors, providing them more room to pull the crew out in case they needed to.

A few seconds later several figures materialized in the corridor. Wendy had obviously done a quick site to site transport of the crew on the holodeck.

Misaka looked around. The first thing she noticed was the damage to the corridor and holodeck doors. Her eyes met Lurath's. "You know what. I don't even want to know right now." She said with a sigh. "Thankyou Commander..."

She walked over towards the holodeck doors and peered through, just in time to see the stern of the Titanic slip beneath the water. "Its a shame really, she was a rather beautiful ship."

"Maybe some other time, we'll take the time to fully explore her." Eila suggested.

"Maybe," Misaka said turning away from the doors. "As for now, all holodecks are to be taken offline. I want every inch of all holodeck systems examined and overhauled. This can't happen again. Until this is done all holodecks are off limits." Misaka ordered.

"Now, if you'll excuse me. I'm going to my quarters. Before anything else gets blown up." She glanced over at Lurath momentarily.

Wendy came panting back around the corner. She seemed relieved that everyone was OK. "Looks like everyone got out OK..." she panted resting an arm against a bulkhead.

Lurath looked over to the XO and slightly rolled his eyes before focusing on Misaka. "Captain, I take full responsibility for this mess. However, given the situation going on in the holodeck and the danger you were all in, I would make that call all over again. You can pull my rank or put me in front of a court martial if you need to."

"I don't think that will be necessary, Commander:" Eila responded. "In your position, I might have done the exact same thing when all else failed. Simply put, you saved us all from freezing to death in that icy water, and for that... You have my gratitude."

Lurath looked back to Eila and nodded his head. "Given the circumstances, I have offered to help clean up the mess and with the repair team to fix the doors, Commander. I wouldn't want to leave this for anyone who wasn't involved."

The Half Klingon Security Chief felt a strong hand on his shoulder. "And he will have help." Tahlova said firmly as she looked over to the other Klingon students. "Won't he?"

"Of course, Captain." Hodaq added as he crossed his arms over his chest. "We would more than willing to help our Klingon brother with the repairs and cleaning up this mess."

Klingon brother?! Lurath thought, holding back a bit of a smile. Of all the other names he heard that targ-headed Klingon, Hodaq, call him the last thing he would expect was him acknowledging him as an equal. Before anything else was said, Lurath spoke up again. "You two should know that Ensign Marvell assisted me and was beneficial to all this working. I bring this up, not to place her in any trouble, but to let you know that when it comes time to consider her for a high rank... this should be listed as a victory."

"And indeed, it shall be." Eila nodded, turning to Wendy. "You did good out there, Ensign. And I shall certainly follow up on the commander's suggestion for a promotion."

"Thanks... but the credit goes to Commander Lurath. He was the one who did all the work." Wendy said straightening up. "I'll help with the cleanup too. I did tell him where to put the charges..."

"Well. I'll leave it up to you two then." Misaka said. "I want a full report by tomorrow." She added simply before making her way off down the corridor clearly relieved to be out of the malfunctioning holodeck.
